Dominic P. Strangio, 16, of Niagara Falls, New York, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2026, surrounded by the love and presence of his family after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer. Although his life was heartbreakingly short, Dominic’s journey was marked by deep love, strong faith, and a remarkable kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. His memory now lives on as a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were impacted by his presence.
Dominic was the beloved son of Frank and Sara (Virtuoso) Strangio and a cherished brother to Sofia and Frankie Strangio. He shared an exceptionally close bond with his siblings, built on laughter, loyalty, and unconditional support. His family meant everything to him, and he found his greatest joy in being surrounded by them, whether in everyday moments at home or during special family gatherings. Those closest to him remember a young man who loved deeply and gave his heart freely.
His educational path began at St. Stephen’s School, where he attended from Pre-K through eighth grade and proudly embraced the identity of a Marauder. Dominic later continued his education as a 10th-grade student at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute. He was admired not only for his commitment to his studies but also for his strength of character, resilience, and positive influence on those around him. The overwhelming support from his classmates, teachers, and school communities reflects the lasting impression he made during his time there.
Dominic was also a passionate athlete. He loved baseball and played with dedication as a catcher in Little League, on local travel teams, and most recently with the Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles travel organization. On the field, he was known for his determination, teamwork, and unwavering spirit. Beyond sports, he was creative and curious—an enthusiastic LEGO builder and an avid gamer who enjoyed challenges and shared his interests with friends.
Some of Dominic’s most treasured moments were simple yet meaningful: fishing with his Papa, Sunday dinners at his Nonna’s home, and time spent with family and close friends. These experiences reflected the warmth and closeness that defined his life.
Dominic is survived by his parents, Frank and Sara; his siblings, Sofia and Frankie; his Nonna, Marita Strangio; his Papa, John Virtuoso; along with a loving extended family and many dear friends who will continue to carry his memory forward.
He will be deeply missed, but his life remains a powerful testament to love, courage, and faith that will never be forgotten.
